‘Resonance’ is supposed to be a dream – that’s when your soulmate is chosen for you. And everyone on the ice planet has hooked up with a big, hunky soulmate of their own…except me. So do I want a mate? Heck yeah. More than anything, all I’ve ever wanted is to be loved by someone.

Except that the soulmate chosen for me? My least favorite person on the darn ice planet. Haeden’s the most cranky, disapproving, unpleasant, overbearing male alien…so why is it that my body sings when he gets close? Why is he working so hard to prove to me that he’s not as awful as I think he is?

I hate him…don’t I?

Barbarian’s Mate is the seventh book in the Ice Planet Barbarians series by Ruby Dixon. While each book follows a different couple’s story, it is recommended you read the books in order. Check out my review of the first book to see if this series is for you – Ice Planet Barbarians.

We finally get Josie’s story! Her book has been my most anticipated of the series thus far. That anticipation only grew after we saw her IUD fall out and her desperately searching for her mate afterwards. And, boy does she find him. The one alien that makes her blood boil – Haedan. slot gacor If you love enemies-to-lovers, you are in for a treat.

It was really nice to revisit a trope that Ruby hasn’t used in a while – fighting fate. Josie is a hopeless romantic and doesn’t believe that Haedan is her one true love because of their previous encounters. She is determined to do anything to change her fate – including getting her khui removed and putting another in its place. While Haedan is devastated that Josie is rejecting him, he can’t stop himself from lashing out at her in anger of her disapproval. Trust me, you will be screaming at them to stop fighting their khuis and get it on already!

Josie was the last unmated female of the crash survivors. So what happens now? Well, Ruby introduces some (two) new characters in this installment. YAY! Our beloved tribe just keeps getting bigger and bigger!
